ABOUT US

Ari Michelle Mboya, creator, writer and director, is a senior at Yale double majoring in Economics and Films Studies. She's from Nairobi, Kenya but hopes to travel the world enough to become a global citizen! She's passionate about telling stories, particularly for and about girls. She's been writing since she was little and been doing film since college. For fun, she like playing sports, reading books and eating any and all foods.

Veronica Bitz, producer, is a junior at the University of New Haven. She is studying Communication, television production, while minoring in Photography and English. She has always had the love for production ever since the seventh grade, and ever since then she has been apart of numerous television productions including a live sports broadcast, which won her a NATAS award. Although, this is her first film production, she is ready to help out anyway she can to make this a wonderful production with such a great crew and talent!

Andrew Schmidt, cinematographer, is a sophomore Film and Media Studies major at Yale University. Originally from St. Louis, MO, he quickly changed his original plan to study computer science after he fell in love with the visual and performing arts. He currently studies photography, video art, narrative filmmaking, stage management for theater, and media theory.

Lindiwe Mayinja, manager, is a freshman at Yale University. Although she was involved with theater at her high school, this is her first college production, and her first time stage managing a film project. Lindiwe would love to continue with theater here at Yale, and she thinks she would someday like to be a director, among many other career aspirations. Lindiwe has not yet decided on a major, but she is leaning towards studying psychology and cognitive science. She is incredibly excited to be working on Girls in the Bathroom, with such talented actresses and with an amazing production team!

Patrice Bowman, editor and audio specialist, is recent Yale University grad who majored in Film Studies. She specializes in post-production. She's proud to be a part of Girls in the Bathroom, a story about women that needs to be told.

Athena Wheaton, editor, hails from Sebastopol, a small town in the north San Francisco Bay Area. She has been studying film and making videos for several years, and is excited to lend her editing and (limited) animation abilities to such a strong and creative team.

Cara Washington, costume designer, is a sophomore at Yale College where she is studying Film and Media. Her recent credits at Yale include For Colored Girls Who've Considered Suicide (Heritage Theater Ensemble), This is Our Youth (Yale University), A Chorus Line (Yale Dramatic Association), and The Trouble with Summer People (Yale Dramatic Association). Cara is so excited to be involved in her first mini-series! Outside of Girls, Cara is a member of The New Blue of Yale and the Yale Dramatic Association

Annie Jones, makeup artist, is a sophomore undergraduate at Yale University pursing a double major in Art and Spanish. She has been designing makeup for seven years, for productions including The Little Mermaid, Seussical the Musical, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Honk! Jr., Icarus, The Winter’s Tale, and Ermeni, as well as haunted house and freelance makeup design. Besides makeup, Annie has also been involved with dramatic productions in other spheres, working as the set designer for Ballet Frontier of Texas for three years and as a graphic designer for nearly twenty shows over the past six years.

Emil Ernström, composer, is a composer of acoustic and electroacoustic music. He is a winner in the National Young Composers Challenge, and was also awarded First Place in “The Other Competition”, hosted by University of Miami Frost School of Music.

Zhirui Guan, set designer, means pollen in Chinese. She enjoys theatre, art and history, would love to continue doing set in college. She has a love for languages as well and spends a lot of time with of Marvel comics and reality TV. Her prospective major is History of Art. She also loves math (like, seriously), and is looking forward to finding out more about herself during my four years at Yale!

Sylvia Omino is part of the Social Media and Promotions Team for ‘Girls In The Bathroom’. She is a recent Law Graduate from the London School of Economics and Political Science interested in pursuing a career in Corporate and Commercial Law. She is a bubbly and charismatic and enjoy travelling, debating and trying new things. Sylvia has always enjoyed the Creative Arts as an avenue for expression and coupled with her love for social media, she is a perfect fit to be a part of the Social Media and Promotions Team for GITB!

Samantha Weya, Social Media and Promotions team, is a final year student at the London School of Economics and Political Science studying Actuarial Science. When she’s not studying statistics, she likes to get involved with theatre where she can – watching, directing, writing and acting. She has a passion for using the arts as a tool to inspire positive social change. The quote she lives by is “Do not go where the path may lead, instead go where there is no path and leave a trail” – Ralph Waldo Emerson #beapioneer. Her aim post graduation is to establish a life where her faith, statistics and performing arts can coincide!
